Midday Friday markets were mixed as they were recovering from slow starts to the day. The Nasdaq is trading barely in the green currently up 4 points, while the Dow and S&P are both down fractions of a percent. Sectors were also mixed today with blue chips down significantly perpetrating the decline while financials were up slightly on the day. Bank of America was trading up well over a percent a day after Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke claimed he did not force the Merrill Lynch deal through despite opposition.
